Attacks on Sex-Positive, Pleasure Based Sex Education

There has been a storm brewing for the last few years.  The storm is the result of two very different but powerful forces meeting over how and why sexual education should be done.  Although there are many players involved in this struggle, let me- your very own Donkey- ground this update in the latest and most upsetting confrontation.

The confrontation is between CAT (or Citizens Against Trafficking) a conservative group who besides opposing human trafficking (which I think we can all support) also happens to oppose pleasure based, sex-positive education.  Why?  Honestly I'm not quite sure where their beef with pleasure comes from.  But they definitely have beef.  Read about it here in their latest newsletter-

I would like to point out that the author of this article is an economics professor.  Clearly her expertise in sociology, sexology, and public health is...well, it's not really clear where she got the training to make all the claims that she made in that newsletter.  But! She certainly did use her ability to manipulate numbers to come to some very interesting conclusions... Anyway, she sent this newsletter to multiple colleges and universities that have been supporting sex-positive education!

And in the corner, going up to bat- yet again- for a harm reduction, pleasure based, sex-positive approach to sexuality education and sexual health?  Our very favorite warrior, None other than Megan Andelloux.  See some of her responses to this attack that she has been able to voice through a letter of response and numerous news interviews including this one-

It's all going down, and the ladies at ScrewSmart want you friends to be informed, and if possible- be involved!

Comment on the sites below! Show your support for comprehensive and pleasure focused sexuality education!  As long as the person doing education is providing medically accurate information, and has the appropriate background and training, this type of education is important and beneficial!
